Established in 2007 by furniture designer and maker Jonathan Kiff, the 360° Trust is a not-for-profit limited company with charitable objectives and corporate social responsibility at it’s core. It combines the principles and values of social enterprise with those of co-operative ownership and management. It is unique, a hybrid that seeks to bring the best of these different models to bare on finding practical solutions to the challenges faced by creative businesses and genuine community issues.
Naturally as a sustainable business the Trust’s objectives must include trading profitably but this is not an end in itself. We also aim to have a positive impact upon our local community, the people with whom we work, our employees and the creative industries our members represent.
This we achieve by all profits generated by the business contributing to the delivery of our social objectives, which are:
1.
The support, nurture and advancement of designer makers working in the contemporary applied and fine arts, aiding their business growth and profitability.
2.
To train and mentor new applied and fine art entrepreneurs through a benchmark apprenticeship program and business support package.
3.
To benefit the local community and economy through the creation of high value skilled employment, educational and training opportunities and the creation of a visitor destination.
We deliver the first by providing affordable fully equipped workshop, studio and office facilities to self employed artists, craftsmen and women.
All our resident artists enjoy low cost state of the art facilities in a spacious, supportive and creative environment. Access to the collective skills and experience of fellow members, our business partners and stakeholders, and the economies of scale being part of a larger entity can generate.
But we also offer the opportunity (it’s voluntary) for members to contribute to the achievement of the last two, our social objectives, by sharing their skills and experience with others through our apprenticeship and educational programs.
By helping us in this way, they also gain the cost, productivity and competitive advantages of having a fully funded assistant in their business, shared ownership of the facilities at the Old Sawmills, the additional income opportunities made possible through co-operative enterprise and the social capital that comes through mutuality of purpose.
The 360° Trust’s goal is to build a dynamic, creative environment that attracts, supports and trains the very best talent in all contemporary arts whilst fostering a culture of responsibility and concern for the social and economic welfare of the local community .
